National Field Archery Society

Formed in 1972, The National Field Archery Society (NFAS) is dedicated to the promotion and management of field archery. The NFAS oversees field archery events and competitions across the United Kingdom, providing a structured framework for archers of all levels to participate in the sport. Field archery involves shooting at targets of varying sizes at unknown distances in woodland settings. The society has over 6,000 members and over 160 clubs.

Priority Pixels recently undertook the project of rebuilding the NFAS website on WordPress, focusing on enhancing usability for both members and the committee. The redesign aimed to modernise the NFAS online presence, making it easier for members to find information about clubs and shoots, and for committee members to easily complete administrative tasks. The WordPress platform was chosen for its flexibility, user-friendly interface, and extensive customisation options, allowing for a tailored approach to meet the specific needs of the NFAS community.

The project involved the development of a custom WordPress theme and the use of custom post types and taxonomies to organise content efficiently. This approach ensured that the website was not only visually appealing but also structured in a way that improved the user experience for site visitors. For the backend, the emphasis was on simplifying the content management process to enable committee members to easily update information without needing extensive technical knowledge. Custom user roles and permissions were established, along with an intuitive interface for managing updates to member details, events, and shoot information. This streamlined approach to content management has made it easier for the NFAS to keep their website up to date, ensuring that members have access to the latest information and resources.
