On-Brand Web Design & Social Media Marketing for Newton Abbot Rugby Club
Earlier this year, Newton Abbot Rugby Club approached Priority Pixels for web design in the form of an innovative, on-brand site. Already Platinum Partners with the club, our own team of talented web developers, graphic designers, SEO experts and content creators quickly got to work.
The new site needed to adhere to the club’s strict brand guidelines, which we created when Newton Abbot Rugby Club first approached us for social media marketing and graphic design. It also needed to promote upcoming match days, events such as Oktoberfest and of course, Newton Abbot Rugby Club itself.
So how’s it going? Rather well we think!
Dynamic web design and development
While the old site had served them well, Newton Abbot Rugby Club’s previous website was outdated, clunky and not optimised for search engines. Described by our graphic designers as “blocky”, it didn’t flow with the user as they scrolled. Text-heavy with very few large images and a poor UX design, the website desperately needed an update.
Newton Abbot Rugby Club asked us to deliver a dynamic, visually appealing web design. Ideally, the new site would successfully promote upcoming matches, partnership opportunities and of course, their historic clubhouse and grounds which are available for event hire. So, as always, the team at Priority Pixels set about doing exactly that, as well as improving the overall user experience for new and returning visitors alike.
The resulting website is worlds away from the original. Dynamic, on-brand and visually immersive, our web designers developed an eye-catching, aesthetically innovative digital experience. The new website reflects Newton Abbot Rugby Club and their important role in their local community. It also successfully promotes the historic clubhouse and grounds as a viable venue for hire in South Devon, as well as the stunning events marquee which can seat up to 400 people.
Our team used WordPress to design the new site, one of the world’s leading content management systems. As a result, the website has the innate ability to evolve with the club as they grow and expand – it also looks good on multiple devices.
A successful social media strategy
Long before they approached us for a brand new website, Newton Abbot Rugby Club needed assistance with their paid advertising and event promotion. The club first came to Priority Pixels for PPC, as well as help with promoting their events online. After a series of successful PPC campaigns, as well as a wildly triumphant Bonfire Night at the club in 2021, it was decided our team would take over the club’s social media full-time. This ongoing work includes the management of their Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Working closely with the team at Newton Abbot Rugby Club, Priority Pixels writes, visualises and designs all of their social media marketing including the creation of visually immersive, impactful copywriting and graphic design. So when the club approached us for a new website, we knew from the get-go it would need to adhere to the strict brand guidelines we’d been using for their social media marketing. This included their bold colour scheme, using maroon, gold and black. We also needed to portray their overall ethos of inclusivity and team camaraderie.
Brand guidelines & graphic design
Of course, we couldn’t talk about Newton Abbot Rugby Club without mentioning our talented team of graphic designers. The team of graphic designers and content creators at Priority Pixels have played an enormous part in our work with Newton Rugby Club’s social media and website redesign, from designing the official match day programme to promoting the club’s events across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Consistent, on-brand visuals that inspire
To start off, we wrote a set of strict brand guidelines. From brand colours to the font used for the club’s logo, the new guidelines outlined anything and everything associated with Newton Abbot Rugby Club’s branding. By outlining these rules right off the bat, we could ensure any future visuals would be both consistent and instantly recognisable.
After creating the club’s brand guidelines, our team set about designing, developing and implementing on-brand, dynamic visual imagery for their digital platforms. This work so far has included eye-catching roadside banners, social media posts promoting upcoming matches and events, posters, feather banners and of course, the official match day programmes which are updated and published on the club’s new website every week. Signage at the club has all been revamped.
When we redesigned the website, our team also created logos for each partnership opportunity. These logos can now be seen on the Partnership Opportunities page.
Working closely with Newton Abbot Rugby Club, our team have contributed on-brand, dynamic visuals to both the new website and to the club’s social media. By consistently following Newton Abbot Rugby Club’s strict brand guidelines, we’ve created an eye-catching, zero-fluff website with the content to match – both of which successfully portray the dynamic, fast-moving nature of rugby as well as the sense of community at the club. By sticking to those initial guidelines, we’ve also ensured the club’s branding is consistent and recognisable across all their print media and digital content.
