The Long Paddle Update: Brendon’s Adventure Continues

All in the name of charity, water safety and good fun, The Long Paddle Campaign continues a year later unabated. This April marks a year since our best buddy and Torquay local Brendon Prince set off on his life-changing ocean adventure. He would return 141 days and 11,000 miles later having circumnavigated mainland Britain on a stand-up paddle board – setting several world records in the process.

A year later, the film Circumnavigate, directed by our good pal and Long Paddle photographer Will Reddaway, is touring the country and the team at Priority Pixels couldn’t be prouder of Brendon and his crew.

The Long Paddle 2021: How it went

Brendon’s stint around mainland Britain was an incredibly exciting time for, well… everyone to be honest. The team at Priority Pixels were particularly star-struck. After all, we built the website for The Long Paddle – an endeavour that eventually resulted in an office of very passionate Brendon supporters.

Contending with strong currents, fierce weather and plenty of unruly wildlife, Brendon fought tooth and nail to complete his journey around Mainland Britain.

As time went on, we found ourselves heavily invested in Brendon’s journey. Glued to our screens every morning, the office tracked Brendon’s movements through The Long Paddle website, prompting many a discussion about how far we thought he’d get that day.

Contending with strong currents, fierce weather and plenty of unruly wildlife, Brendon fought tooth and nail up the West coast of mainland Britain all the way up to the north coast of Scotland where Priority Pixels co-director Nathan was ready to greet our hero.

Looking back: The Long Drive 2021

Three months after Brendon paddled swiftly out of Torquay, Nathan set off on The Long Drive 2021, driving a whopping 12-hours to the wild north coast of rugged Scotland in an attempt to catch up with Brendon as he passed by John o’ Groats. We documented the mini-campaign on social media and ran a photo competition – the winner would win a Go Pro Hero 9.

The Long Drive 2021 proved an enormous success. Better yet, a few days after the winner was announced live on social media (shout out to our good friend and Go Pro winner, Jerrie Roberts), Brendon would turn his paddle board South for the first time since his journey began. Two months later he would return to our shores, victorious.

New adventures on the horizon for The Long Paddle Campaign

Just last week, Brendon visited Priority Pixels for a cuppa, a choccy biccy and a good ol’ fashioned chinwag. Unsurprisingly, despite the fame and notoriety, the ethos of humble Brendon’s Long Paddle campaign remains as steadfast as the waves on a wild Devonian beach. A year later, Brendon is still hellbent on raising awareness for water safety here in Great Britain as well as building the first interactive water safety app. His ventures also continue to raise funds for Surfers Against Sewerage, Surf Life Saving Great Britain, and several other ocean charities including his own charity, Above Water.
