Ten Years of Priority Pixels

In the summer of 2016, Leicester City were the unlikely champions of the Premier League, Pokémon Go was everywhere and the Rio Olympics were only weeks away. It was also the summer that we started Priority Pixels!

A decade later, almost everything about the agency has changed. We are bigger, we are more specialised and we work in ways we could not have imagined back then. What has not changed is why we started. We set out to do work we were proud of, and that has stayed true through every change since.

Reaching 10 years is not something we take for granted. Plenty of businesses never make it this far, so we are grateful to have made it here and for what we have become along the way. This anniversary is, more than anything, a chance to thank those who made the last 10 years possible.

Thank you!

A Walk Down Memory Lane

It started with the two of us in a small office in Paignton, Devon. Back then, our only service was building WordPress websites and keeping them online. As our client base expanded, our services grew with it. Paid media came first, after Nathan earned Google Partner status in 2018, starting with Google Ads and growing into Microsoft, LinkedIn and Meta Ads. SEO followed, with our first designer, copywriter and digital marketing specialist brought in-house. As the team grew, the offices got bigger and the projects became the kind we had once only hoped for. Our small web studio had become a full-service digital marketing agency.

That progress was not without its challenges. The pandemic in 2020 was a difficult and uncertain time for everyone. For a young agency, this meant adapting almost overnight, moving to remote working and supporting clients whose operations had changed in just a few days. We were fortunate to come through it, mindful of how much harder it was for many around us.

That period also gave us the chance to reflect on the direction of the business and the type of work we wanted to focus on. More and more, we realised that the work we had been doing best all along was for B2B and public sector organisations in sectors like healthcare, technology and shipping and maritime. We developed expertise in those sectors and shaped our services around the standards they work to. Accessibility is a key part of that, with every website we build meeting the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

Where We Are Now

Today, Priority Pixels is a B2B marketing agency specialising in bespoke WordPress development, organic and AI search, paid media and content for B2B and public sector organisations across the UK. The industry looks very different now to how it did in 2016 and we have embraced that change, adapting our strategy throughout the years to how people search and buy.

AI is now central to how we deliver our services. Our team has developed its own AI workflows and made them part of how we run projects, speeding up the slower, more manual stages like keyword and competitor research, campaign data analysis and first drafts. The thinking, the strategy and the final say stay with our specialists.

Alongside the work itself, we have developed software of our own. Our internal Client Hub combines our CRM, project management, audits and helpdesk support into a single platform that supports Priority Pixels’ day-to-day operations. Our reporting platform consolidates data from every channel we run for a client into one dashboard, from search rankings and website analytics to paid media across search and social, site speed and on-page behaviour, including the visits now arriving from AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot. Few agencies of our size have built proprietary tools like these in-house, and it’s one of the things we are most proud of from the past decade.

The People Who Got Us Here

For all that has changed, the part we are proudest of has not. It is our clients, the people who have trusted us with how their business is found and seen online. We are grateful to every one of them, from the businesses who were with us in those first few months to those who joined this year. Some have been with us almost the whole way, including Castles since 2017, V.Group and NHS Health Connections since 2018 and Acronyms since 2021.

The same is true of our team. Our developers and designers, our SEO and paid media specialists, our copywriters and our support staff are the people who have made the agency what it is.

We owe them more than a few lines can carry. They are the reason our clients stay and, above all, the reason we are still here to mark 10 years at all.

To our clients and our team, past and present, thank you.

The Next Ten Years

Ten years in, we are surer than ever of the agency we want to be. One that does work worth being proud of, year after year. Our industry never sits still and the last few years have moved quicker than any before them. Keeping up has never been the point. We want to be ready for what comes next and among the first to use it well. The tools will change again, as they always do. Why we started will not. Here is to the years ahead.
