With over 35 years of experience Plastics Southwest aim to supply home improvement products at competitive prices. The Devon based company specialises in plastic decking, fascias, gutters, windows, doors and conservatories. With customers from both the building trade and DIY enthusiasts the company has made a name for itself in the South West. For this reason they needed a new website which complimented their success and growth.


Plastics Southwest asked us to build a new website to help promote their full range of products to Plymouth and its surrounding areas. They needed a site that displayed all of their available products clearly with galleries of professional photography, supporting copy and product specifications. As Plastics Southwest source products from many suppliers the website needed to be fully content managed so new product information could be updated as and when required.

The Brief

    Provide a content management system which allows Plastics Southwest to access, edit and add new content when needed.

The Process

Our web design team created a brand new website with a clean and simple design, focusing on easy navigation and a user friendly experience. The use of imagery was a key part of the project and each service page has been given its own dedicated photo gallery to help showcase the wide range of products on offer.

Plastics Southwest provides a variety of products ranging from artificial grass to exterior cladding. Displaying these products in detail and in an engaging way is extremely important in helping potential customers make a purchasing decision. The home page displays all of their products individually with beautiful imagery and minimal text. The product images on the homepage have subtle animations which entice visitors to take action by clicking.

Not only was it important to fully display Plastics Southwest products but also all the brands they source from. As part of the websites structure we included drop down menus for both, products and brands. Customers might need a product from a specific brand, the drop down menu allows visitors to the site to easily browse all brands without having to contact Plastics Southwest to check who they source products from.

Plastics Southwest sell all their products through their physical showroom rather than online. For this reason, promoting their showroom was a key requirement for the new website. As part of the new website build we wanted to provide a way for customers to easily locate their showroom. To achieve this we embedded their location on Google Maps directly onto the website. As a result, visitors to the new website can now easily get directions to their showroom no matter their location with just a few clicks.

We understand that in some cases people will prefer to contact them before they pay a visit to their showroom. For this reason we included a contact form on every product page for seamless communication. Making communication simple is important to creating a good user experience, long drawn out forms are unnecessary. Visitors to the site only need to fill out a simple form and choose how they wish to be contacted; either by phone or email.

Plastics Southwest has a 5 star rating on Facebook with many written reviews. Displaying this on their website in a non-intrusive way was key to building trust amongst new and potential customers. Reviews appear on an interactive slider at the bottom of every page along with a call to action to visit their Facebook page.
